Types of mushrooms

White Mushrooms

White Mushrooms – the most common mushroom found on supermarket shelves, alongside button mushrooms, the white mushroom come in four size categories– button, closed cup, open cup and large. The category of mushroom is dependant on the length of time the mushroom is allowed to go before harvesting.

Brown Mushroom

The brown mushroom, more flavoursome than the white mushrooms, also comes in different size categories - Chestnut/closed cup and mini portobello.

Portobello mushroom

a chestnut mushroom that has been allowed to grow to full maturity, creating a meaty texture and strong favour. These large mushrooms with flat base are great grilled, barbecued, and stuffed.

Breakfast flats

Similar to the Portobello mushroom, these mushrooms are great grilled, barbecued, and stuffed. They are white mushrooms that have been allowed to grow to maturity.
